About the Class: The Environmental Earth Science CP class is designed to provide students with an in depth look into the natural world and its processes with an emphasis on environmental sciences. Interrelationships between physical, biological, and chemical processes at Earth's surface are emphasized. Topics such as astronomy, geology, ecology, water, soil, air, atmosphere, population, climate change, land uses, mineral resource, energy resources, geochemical cycles, waste, and solutions, will be used to teach a curriculum that gives students a comprehensive understanding of the natural world, and the how everything is connected. This course will focus on the overarching NGSS performance expectations based on the four main topics which are Space Systems, History of the Earth, Earth’s Systems, Weather and Climate, Human Sustainability, and Engineering Design. This course will also incorporate California’s Environmental Principles and Concepts (EP & C’s) through a broad curriculum that includes in-classroom and out-of-classroom education so that students will become environmentally literate and able to address current environmental challenges and prevent new ones. This class meets the requirements for “d” laboratory science requirement.

Mission For The Class: I feel that every child has the potential to succeed and has the ability to learn. My goal is to reach every student using multiple teaching methods while also increasing their personal organizational skills. I hope to help them understand how important Science is to them in their everyday lives and to the future of planet Earth. Each student has the power to make a difference not only in their own future but in the future of the world around them.
About the Teacher: Teaching is a calling for me. I enjoy seeing the students eyes light up when they learn about the world around them. Teaching takes knowledge, skill, patience, understanding, and management skills. It is a profession that is constantly changing and takes constant updating to make our student’s experiences in the classroom more rewarding. I challenge myself every year to stay current on the issues, breakthroughs in science, and current events. As a teacher I hope to capture my student’s attention and not only teach them the science content but also life skills which will carry them through the many years ahead. I feel that with the challenges I have overcome in life and the knowledge I have gained through previous employment that I can give students a well rounded education in the sciences. Prior to teaching I was a marine mammal trainer where I had the pleasure of training and working with orcas, dolphins, seals, sealions, sea otters, and other animals. I have been teaching for many years and have had the pleasure of teaching GeoScience, Biology, Physical Science, Earth Science, and AP Environmental Science. I have my undergrad degree in Environmental Science and my Master’s in Education. I have also obtained my Educational Leadership and Administrators credential and my Career Technical Education Credential.
